Q

Do you work with people who are already retired?

Yes. In addition to working with clients who are preparing for retirement, we work with clients who have already entered their retirement and are looking for solutions for optimization, sustainability or considering wealth transfer.

Q

How often will we need to meet?

Typically, we meet annually, semi-annually or quarterly, depending on your preference. These meetings may take place in-person in our office, via video chat, or by phone. Our meetings serve to insure that we are prioritizing your goals and implementing any strategies that will benefit you financially. Other topics to discuss at these meetings would include anticipated changes to employment, life changes or large upcoming expenses. Our meetings will allow us to discuss your portfolios, market changes or any changes we may recommend.

Q

What makes a goals-based investment advisory firm different from other wealth advisory firms?

Our goals-based investment advisory firm places value and emphasis on goals you have established for yourself versus arbitrary amounts of money to have set aside. We believe that the practice of meaningful goal setting is the basis for comprehensive financial planning and creating a foundation for your individual self-realization. Your financial plan and purpose of your investments is directly aligned to your life allocations and retirement lifestyle.

Q

How will our relationship work?

Once you’ve decided to become a member, we will have our first planning appointment. Prior to that appointment we will guide you through sharing important information regarding your goals and current financial standings. This first appointment will typically last a couple of hours and allows us to learn a greater deal about what you hope to achieve. We will collect and discuss tax returns, account statements, insurance policies and estate & trust documentation. Once we’ve established our relationship and created your financial plan, we will work with you to open investment accounts that are in line with your long-term goals and risk capacity. In addition to our regular meetings, the team at LBDIAS is there to support you with any changes or issues that arise in your life and require assistance or support. Ready?

Q

Do you have ethical investment options?

Yes. We believe understanding the new dynamics of ESG (Environmental Social Governance) investing, especially in the context of the larger market, will be increasingly important in the coming years. The idea that ESG investing is here to stay is nearly a foregone conclusion, especially given the supportive regulatory environment for companies focused on these issues. Life By Design Investment Advisory Services already incorporates ESG data into our portfolio filtering and investment strategy selection processes.

Traditional data on a company may include sales revenues, profitability, dividends, and valuation. ESG data reveals so much more information about what’s going on underneath the surface when it comes to risk factors like Environmental impact, Social diversity implications and corporate Governance. This type of information can provide investors with a more complete analysis of a company and offer better insight into risks that might not be visible on balance sheets and income statements.
